About

Muckelroy Keyboard Repair is located based just west of Austin in beautiful Dripping Springs, TX.

Bio of the owner:

I’ve played piano all my life, and became interested in the organ at the age of 10.  I first experienced a Hammond organ at the age of 13, and was hooked.

I studied Sound Recording Technology at Texas State for three years, bringing together my love of music and of technology. During this time, I had formal training in electrical circuit design, getting familiar with a variety of pro audio equipment, and topologies. Though I did not pursue a career as a recording studio engineer, my love for music endured. It was, and always has been a part of my life. I played keys and organ for various bands, and continue to perform as I am able to.

My decision to start Muckelroy Keyboard Repair was a process that started in 2011. I was recording for a band’s EP, and  was looking forward to playing on the studio’s B3 and Leslie 147. However, there was a problem with the Leslie amp, preventing the Leslie from being used for that session. After this, it took over a month for the Leslie to be repaired and back in working order. I soon realized that there was a shortage of qualified technicians in the Austin area. Some of the more well-known technicians were retiring, or had already done so.

In 2013, I started Muckelroy Keyboard Repair. I am committed to cherishing these instruments, and keep them going as long as possible. You’ll find nothing but honesty, and attention to detail in my work.

Frequently asked questions:

— Smaller instruments – yes. Organs – no, unless special arrangements are made.

Do you buy keyboards or organs?

— Only on occasion. Contact me if you are looking to sell yours.

Do you service other keyboards besides Hammond organs?

— Certainly. I’ll service almost any electronic keyboard instrument, including Rhodes, Wurlitzer, among others. I am an authorized Kawai Service Center, too.

Do you tune or service upright or grand pianos?

— Although I can tune and perform basic maintenance on most upright and grand (acoustic) pianos, I would recommend a registered piano technician.
